MEET THE FOUNDERS

LILY PORTMAN – WRITER & DIRECTOR
Lily is a multi-talented artist who has transitioned from acting to writing and directing. Her directorial debut, the comedy short QUIET, stars Phillipa Dunne (Motherland, Derry Girls) and Luke Rollason (Extraordinary), with co-production by Gobby Girl (In My Skin, Dreaming Whilst Black). The film is set to premiere at festivals later this year.
Currently, Lily is developing a children’s animation in collaboration with Pamela Aculey and Will Poulter, as well as a feature film with Checklist Films. She is also curating the slate for Middling Women, which encompasses short films, TV series, and feature scripts in development.
Lily loves spending time with her 3 year old and running really fast.
GEORGIA NEATH – PRODUCER

Georgia is an Actor and Producer from the West Midlands. She is a driving force for championing regional talent and female voices across UK film & TV. On screen, she’s appeared in BBC Three’s 0121, BBC’s Doctors, and an upcoming Netflix feature. Behind the camera, she produced and starred in the award-winning short DOSED (Best Supporting Actress, Midland Movie Awards 2023) and has worked with brands like FOX Sports, E.ON Energy, and Subaru UK. She’s collaborated with industry leaders including BAFTA winner Chris Hees (Wonderwall, Cannes Critics’ Week) and assisted with George Somner on award-winning short MAN>CODE which has premiered online via Director’s Notes.
Currently in post-production on Middling Women’s new short (starring Motherland’s Philippa Dunne and Extraordinary’s Luke Rollason), Georgia advocates for a sustainable, inclusive, and mentally healthy film & TV industry—pushing Midlands talent onto national and international screens.
Georgia loves Pugs, Soya Cappuccinos and Gherkins (but not together!).
THE ORIGIN STORY
Middling Women formed post triumph of the short film DOSED in 2023, funded by Punch Record’s artist initiative Gallery37. DOSED was well received by regional and international audiences and saw success winning Best Micro Short at the San Francisco Arthouse Short Festival 2023, Best Edit at the LIMFF 2023 and Best Actress in a Supporting Role at the Midlands Movie Awards 2023 and qualified as a Semi-Finalist at the New York International Women Festival 2022.
